When times are difficult, a first thought might be to iron out the problems. We try to protect from the disruptions that come.
Wisdom invites a different approach. Rather than finding freedom from our troubles, one wakes up to the freedom in the midst of our troubles.
This path is not a recipe to fix things, but it is to become large with life. We cannot become part of the healing without becoming part of the suffering. This is the path of the pulse, the path of art, the path of intimacy. Instead of shrinking from love, when one opens to it, the heart opens wide.
This talk is a chance to explore Zen practice and koans with a view to living fiercely where we are challenged to grow. We will examine an ancient but fresh approach to working with our growth and change.
Following a talk, there will be opportunities to experience contemplative koan inquiry. There will be time to share and discuss throughout.
